Was An Anti-War Liberal Behind The Times Square Bombing?
The NYPD is investigating a witness report--backed up by a surveillance tape--of a hooded man on a bicycle acting suspiciously before a small explosive device detonated early this morning in Times Square. No one was injured in the explosion, which blasted out the windows of Times Square's military recruiting center. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said that a witness reported seeing an suspicious individual around the area before the explosion and a nearby private surveillance corroborated the account. At a press conference, Kelly said that the device was "unsophisticated" but still could have caused "injury and even death." Mayor Bloomberg said that the attack "insults every one of our brave men and women in uniform stationed around the world." And Hizzoner had tough words for the individual who placed the explosives, calling the bomb-thrower "a coward." "Whoever the coward was that committed this disgraceful act on our city will be found and prosecuted to the full extent of the law," said Bloomberg.
